Trunk-or-Treat

Every fall, Laingsburg United Methodist Church opens its doors for Trunk-or-Treat, a safe and welcoming way for children and families to celebrate Halloween together. Our annual Trunk-or-Treat event is usually held indoors, so it happens rain or shine (and Michigan Octobers can bring both!). There are often games and other activities, along with hot chocolate and cookies. And, lest we forget, there is always an abundance of candy to be had!

What Is Trunk-or-Treat?

Trunk-or-treat started as a way for churches and community groups to offer trick-or-treating in one safe, well-lit place. Volunteers decorate their spaces, hand out treats and greet families, so children can collect candy and show off their costumes without walking busy streets after dark. At LUMC, we bring the fun inside, which makes the event comfortable for toddlers, grandparents and everyone in between.

Why a Church Hosts Halloween Fun

Outreach is about building relationships and sharing God's love in everyday ways. A night of costumes, laughter and treats is a simple, joyful way to get to know our neighbors. Many families who visit Trunk-or-Treat have never been inside our building before, and we love the chance to say "welcome."

Tips for Families

• Bring a bag or bucket for treats.
• Costumes are encouraged but never required.
• If your child has a food allergy, ask about non-candy treats.
• Stay for a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie.
