Worship at Laingsburg UMC

Sundays at 10:30 am in the sanctuary at 210 N. Crum Street, and live on Facebook.

"Shout triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth! ... Thank Him! Bless His name."Psalm 100 (CEB)

Worship is an experience in which we offer ourselves, our praise, and our thanksgiving to God. Worship can take many forms, keeping God at the center of the experience through elements such as word, sacrament, reflection, prayer, song, and thanksgiving. We would love to have you worship with us!

What to Expect

Here at Laingsburg United Methodist Church, what you'll find is a relaxed and comfortable worship atmosphere. We hope that, like others here, you'll come exactly as you are. If this is your first visit, our I'm New Here page answers common questions about parking, what to wear and where to sit.

Passionate Worship

Our goal here at Laingsburg UMC is to engage in meaningful and passionate worship in which we can fully come to God just as we are and share that time together with one another. We also believe that worship isn't just something we attend and observe. Rather, worship is something we do. We each come to God just as we are to share with God our love, our hearts, our prayers, our joys, our pains, and our passions.

We sing hymns and songs to celebrate and remember who God is and will always be in our lives and in our world. Together we explore the Scriptures and hear what God would have for us to hear. Ultimately, we passionately worship a God who loves us and who is always with us. Come and share in this time with us. If you would like to understand each part of the service, read our guide to the United Methodist order of worship.

Holy Communion

On the first Sunday of every month (and at occasional worship services), we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion. Sometimes this celebration is called the "Eucharist" or the "Lord's Supper." We celebrate Holy Communion because it reminds us of the final meal Jesus shared with his disciples in the upper room, just before he was crucified and died. During this meal, Jesus promised his disciples that the bread (which represents Jesus' body) and the cup (which represents Jesus' blood) would be broken and poured out for everyone because of Jesus' love for all of us.

In the United Methodist Church, in order to make sure everyone can take part, we use grape juice instead of wine. Furthermore, we believe that everyone who believes in Jesus Christ and desires to experience his love and grace is welcome to take communion. You don't have to be a member of this church or any church.

Children in Worship

Here at Laingsburg UMC, we believe that the church is a place where everyone belongs, whether they're infants, children, youth, parents, or adults of all ages. Your children (all ages) are welcome to stay with you in the sanctuary during the worship service. For your convenience and their enjoyment, we have established a "prayground" in the sanctuary with toys and activities.

We also like to say that God gave children the wiggles, voices, and great energy. Allowing them to be children is perfectly fine. To help families take part together, a small pamphlet called "Your Family, Your Church" is available in the pews to guide you through the service and our building. Learn more on our Children's Ministries page, or read our tips for bringing young children to church.

Family Space

Instead of a traditional staffed nursery, we offer the Family Space, an unattended room just outside the sanctuary designed with families and parents in mind. It has comfortable seating, a changing table, age-appropriate toys and a child-friendly restroom. We simply ask that the parent(s) or guardian(s) remain in the Family Space while it is being used. You and your family are always welcome to return to the sanctuary during the service.

Other Worship Services

In addition to our regular Sunday worship services, we hold special worship services throughout the Christian year. Click on a service below to learn more about it.
